FAQ's
How much will a pre-wedding makeup and hair trial cost?
All trials are from £50 - £60 per service per person so £1oo - £120 in total for both your Barnet & Boatrace
Where does the pre-wedding makeup and hair trial take place?
Makeup and hair trials take place informally at your home, ours or a hotel venue either in Bournemouth or Poole. We can also arrange for your trial to take place at local hair salon, HB Lounge in Wallisdown right on the border of Bournemouth and Poole. Usually we carry out makeup and hair trials during the daytime on a Friday as we tend to get fully booked with weddings at weekends but we will do our best to fit you in if you are only available during evenings or weekends.
Can I have a pre-wedding makeup and hair trial done at the same time?
Yes, whenever possible we will can carry out the hair and makeup appointment at the same time to give you an idea of the overall look. Alternatively we will carry out two separate appointments on the same day. Please allow up to 1 hour 30mins for a joint hair and makeup trial. Some brides find it a good idea to arrange their bridal trial on the same day as their wedding dress fitting to give them an overall idea how they will look.
Can I bring a bridesmaid or friend to the wedding makeup and hair trial to watch?
Yes, as long as you confirm with us beforehand due to limitations on space.
Should I wash my hair and cleanse my face beforehand?
It's best to come to the trial with "day old" hair so we recommend you wash your hair the day or evening before as this makes it easier to hold a style.
Freshly cleansed and moisturised skin works best for us too. If possible, use a gentle exfoliator the day beforehand too.
I don't live near Bournemouth or Poole and it's difficult to arrange time off work to have my wedding makeup and hair trial, what do you suggest?
We are used to dealing with brides who don't live locally and can arrange a wedding hair and makeup consultation via phone, or FaceTime or WhatsApp instead.
We have even been known to carry out trials the day before the wedding at your hotel venue or a family members home.
How will I ensure my makeup stays on all day and my hair lasts all night?
A great skincare and hair routine always helps and we can offer you specialist advice at your trial. However, if this isn't possible there's no need to worry as we will use the strongest of hairsprays and plenty of pins if you are having an up do. For your makeup we always select the correct moisturiser for your skin type, a suitable primer, foundation and set this all with a light powder as well as a setting spray. If you decide that you'd like a different look for the evening we can by arrangement return to your wedding venue and carry out a restyle or we can always give you some tips on how to transform the look from day to night.
You will also have the choice to purchase the same fabulous products used at your wedding makeup trial to touch up your makeup for later on in the day.
How many makeup artists and hair stylists will I need to get us all ready in time?
We usually allocate one hair stylist and one makeup artist to keep the flow of the morning running smoothly.
We also have a couple of multi skilled hair stylists and makeup artists too so if it is just you we may allocate one multi skilled artist instead.
For larger groups ie 6 people or more we may allocate a second stylist/makeup artist depending on the time needed to be ready for - but don't worry, we organise all of this for you as part of our service to you and will advise you of the additional cost.
Do you do makeup and hair styling for hen parties?
Yes we certainly do. This can be a really fun way for everyone in your hen party to get to know each other before your big day.
