Here's a few helpful tips in preparation for your wedding or special event to ensure its as relaxing and enjoyable as possible for you!
Skincare and Makeup Preparation
Please ensure that you and your party have cleansed and toned and removed all traces of any long lasting lippy and waterproof mascara so that we have a nice clean blank canvas to work on.
It is also a good idea to do a gentle exfoliation as well as any dermaplaning 24 - 48 hours before to ensure the makeup goes on smoothly. Feel free to add any of your usual face serums and moisturisers as long as they have been tried and tested with the makeup. If you're unsure, it's best to skip this step, we will do the moisturising for you.
If you're staying overnight in a hotel and have forgotten your day moisturiser - please don't use your night cream or body cream as a substitute as this will be too rich for the makeup to sit on!
Lights, Camera, Action!
Ideally we'd like to to apply your makeup in natural daylight so by a big window or in a conservatory is ideal (your photographer will also appreciate this for a nice natural getting ready photo).
We want you to be comfortable when having your makeup applied so a kitchen or bar stool with back support or a dining chair is ideal.
During the Summer months it can get quite hot in your hotel room or kitchen/dining area. A handy accessory can be a floor or desk fan. Sometimes you'll find one of these tucked away in your hotel wardrobe. If not, it's always worth asking in reception if it's something they can help you with.
Hair Preparation and What to Wear
Please wash your hair the day beforehand and it is fully dried (unless otherwise agreed with your stylist). If you or any of your bridal party are having a blow dry, washed and towel dried hair is fine.
We don't want you to ruin your hair after it has been styled which is why we will usually style any flower girls hair last as they tend to get very excitable and find it hard to sit still afterwards!
A dressing gown, zip up hoody, shirt or loose fitting top is ideal so that you don't ruin your freshly styled hair when you remove this. Also, you might want to remove your bra to avoid any tight bra strap print marks for when you slip on your dress.
Last Minute Touch Ups
We will make a final check before we leave to ensure that your hair is picture perfect and that your lipstick is freshly applied.
Some of our artists also carry lipsticks, glosses and lashes for you and your bridal party to purchase.
These must be paid for at the time in cash. Otherwise you may want to make a note to remember to bring your own lipstick or gloss with you to top up with throughout the day.
Tissues and Straws
Although we use long lasting primers, powders and setting sprays you may want to arm yourself with a couple of essential products to preserve your makeup throughout the day - straws and tissues!
Straws: For you to sip your drink through whilst getting ready to avoid your lippy from slipping off.
Tissues: For those with oily skin to dab your T Zone if you see any shine.
Finding us, Finding you
For peace of mind you might to take a note of your suppliers contact numbers and have this handy all in one place to pass on to your wedding party in case of any last minute thoughts you need to communicate to them.
If you're getting ready in a hotel room, don't forget to let us know which room number you are in once you have checked in to avoid delay in us finding you. If your room is named rather than numbered it's also super handy if you could let us know which floor this is on.
If the venue we're coming to is remote or difficult to find, you may want to considering tying a balloon to a lamp post or another sign to help us and your wedding party find you!
Finally..... get your wedding day morning play list ready and relax! You're going to have a great day!
